Turning Red

We developed elevated and seasonal social creative celebrating Turning Red’s themes of friendship, identity, and self-expression, including a 30-minute lo-fi study loop that extended the film’s emotional world online and earned more than 1.5 million views.

THE CHALLENGE

How do you extend the world of Turning Red beyond the film while celebrating the everyday moments that make Mei so relatable?

OUR APPROACH

THE IMPACT

“Chill & Study With Mei” earned more than 1.5 million organic YouTube views, expanded across multiple Disney Pixar channels, and helped audiences connect with Mei long after the credits rolled.

Countdowns

We built anticipation for Turning Red with a playful countdown series that paired Mei, her friends, and Red Panda energy with oversized typography and bright, platform-first design.

Red-haired animated girl with glasses points a stick toward bold sticker-style red text reading "ONE WEEK" over a sunny street scene with hanging red lanterns and a grid-paper corner.
Giant red panda with three girls riding its head in the foreground, a stylized Toronto skyline behind them, and a bold red-and-white '3 DAYS' countdown sticker above.
Four animated girls strike energetic, joyful poses on a city sidewalk beneath a large red-and-white 'NOW STREAMING' headline with Turning Red and Disney+ logos at the bottom.

Stylized Quote Cards

We turned memorable lines from Turning Red into bold, character-driven quote cards that paired expressive moments with playful typography inspired by the film’s youthful visual language.

Close-up of Mei Lee's worried face in the foreground with Ming Lee admonishing a younger Mei in the background, set against red torn-paper graphics and bold white headline text.
Mei mid-cartwheel upside down wearing glasses, red sweater and purple skirt against a red background with torn graph-paper corner and bold white typographic quote about doing a spontaneous cartwheel.

Carousels

We used one of Turning Red’s most recognizable expressions of care | food | to create a playful carousel celebrating family, culture, and the small rituals that say “I love you” without saying a word.

Ming Lee in a green blazer offers a plate of orange slices toward camera while bold white-and-red text reads “HAVE YOU EATEN YET?” against a dotted red border and warm background.
Wok with seared meat cubes, curled red chili slices and large green leaves splashing upward, framed by diagonal red halftone borders.
Young red-haired girl with glasses looks wide-eyed across a crowded family dinner table as an adult man beside her holds chopsticks and several steaming dishes sit in the foreground.
Hands hold a bowl of creamy rice porridge topped with two sunny-side-up eggs, scallion 'eyebrows', a mushroom-shaped nose, and a soy-sauce smile arranged like a playful face.
High-contrast red promotional card with a hand-painted white 'Turning Red' logo shaped like a panda head, 'Disney·PIXAR' at the top, 'Now Streaming' and the Disney+ logo at the bottom.

Galentine’s Day Cards

We celebrated Turning Red’s friendship-first spirit with a playful Galentine’s Day card series built around Mei’s confidence, humor, and ride-or-die energy.

Mei Lee smiling in round glasses and a red sweater, holding a plate with two steamed bao buns against a red graphic background with bold white headline text.
Mei Lee’s giant red panda with arms raised and a wide grin on a red background patterned with small hearts, arcing white headline reading “YOU'RE STU-PANDA-OUS!”.
Meilin “Mei” Lee stands in a classroom clutching a notebook and smiling confidently beside a bold red graphic that reads “RED IS A LUCKY COLOR,” with Turning Red and Disney+ logos.

TikTok

We leaned into Turning Red’s music and movement with TikTok-first dance content that turned Mei, Red Panda Mei, and her friends into playful, participatory social moments.

Reactions

We turned Turning Red’s biggest expressions into a reaction series built for social, using the film’s characters and Red Panda Mei to give fans a mood for just about every feeling.

Four-panel red collage showing Mei Lee sweating with glasses, a grinning friend in a green beanie with braces, a worried friend wearing a headband, and Ming Lee holding papers.
Four close-up portraits of Mei's giant red panda form showing excited, angry, surprised, and teary expressions arranged like polaroids around the text asking, “What's your panda mood?”

Character Assets

We turned Turning Red’s supporting cast into playful social formats built around personality, friendship, fashion, and family | giving fans more ways to find themselves in Mei’s world.

Mei stands hands-on-hips smiling widely in a red cardigan, purple skirt over burgundy tights and gray sneakers with pink laces, with labeled callouts and sticker graphics.
Miriam from Turning Red wearing a green plaid sweater and beanie, holding a microphone while labeled callouts point to her plaid sweater, rolled cropped jeans, and slip-on skate shoes.
Abby from Turning Red wearing a glittery headband and purple overalls with flower patches, flashing a peace-sign smile while showing cherry-red boots, with labeled callouts over a pastel Toronto street background.
Priya from Turning Red standing in a school hallway wearing round glasses, a striped polo sweater and boot-cut cargo pants with labeled callouts describing each outfit piece.
